* To help you properly understand how to receive and execute your prophecy – Be it personal, church or general prophetic word, I have listed some practical ways that a believer in the modern-day church can and should respond to in the prophetic walk.
1. Listen to the DETAILS of DESCRIPTION – 2nd Sam 12
~Nathan was the prophet by whom God had sent to David to notify him of His kind intentions towards him, and now, by the same hand, he sends him this message of wrath. God’s word in the mouth of his ministers must be received, whether it speak terror or comfort. Nathan was obedient to the heavenly vision, and went on God’s errand to David.
2. Attach ASSOCIATIONS to the CONTENT – Exodus 25:1-9
~Tabernacle – Example of pillars around the tabernacle covered with silver, capped at the bottom with brass and tied With goats hair
a) Wood is symbolic of flesh,
acacia has long life symbolic of ETERNAL life. Jesus rose from the dead.
b) Silver symbolizes REDEMPTION , He is our REDEEMER.
c) Brass speaks of SUFFERING, meaning SAVIOUR.
d) Goats hair is a symbol of DECEPTION.
3. UNDERSTAND the MESSAGE and the DIRECTIVE – 2nd Peter 1-2
~ Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things
~ You must understand the sin, the issue, the command and the direction
4. VALIDATE with SCRIPTURE
~ Make sure your prophesy does not contradict scripture
James 1:17 – Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
5. GO and EXECUTE
a) Obey – Gen 6 – The Story of Noah and the Great Flood. And the story of Jonah and the Whale here refers.
b) Repent – Psalms 51 – A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. He repents and ask God to have mercy on him according to His steadfast love and blot out his transgressions.
c) Leave it to God- The story of Daniel teaches us about the promises and faithfulness of God, that you do your part and leave the rest to God to fulfill.
HOW TO KNOW THE TRUE PROPHETS
1. Grounded in scripture – Truth
Eze 13:2 – Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say you unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear you the word of the LORD;
Eze 13:7- Have you not seen a vain vision, and have you not spoken a lying divination, whenever you say, The LORD says it; although I have not spoken?
2. Fruits validate – Character
Mat 7:15-16 – Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
3. Results of prophecy – Success rate
~ Num 11:23- And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’S hand shortened? You shall see now whether my word shall come to pass unto you or not.
~ Deu 18:21-22- And if you say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken? 22 When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing follows not, nor comes to pass, that is, the thing which the LORD has not spoken, but the prophet has spoken it presumptuously: you shall not be afraid of him.
4. Does not preach “give to get” doctrine
~Prophecy is not driven by money- It is based on principles
Num 22:17-18 – For I will promote you unto very great honor, and I will do whatsoever you say unto me: come therefore, I pray you, curse for me this people. 18 And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.
* When you shall listen to the prophets, you shall be established.
* God wants you to walk in the prophesy, but you must be willing to open up your life to the prophetic.
